Have you ever wanted to toss pizza dough like the Stromboli’s pros? Stromboli’s of Clermont serves the best New York Style pizza in town. Well, in today’s blog we are going to teach you how to toss pizza dough like the pros. First things first, wash your hands with anti bacterial soap. After your hands are clean, you can get started. In order to make your own dough, you will need the following:

• 1 cup of water
• 1/2 tablespoon of salt
• 1 tablespoon of sugar
• 1 tablespoon of olive oil
• 1 tablespoon of dry yeast
• A little over 2 cups of flour.

PREPARING THE DOUGH

Mix the above ingredients. Put the warm water and yeast in a large bowl, then add the salt, sugar, and oil. Gradually add in the flour as you stir the mixture simultaneously. You know you have added enough flour when the mixture becomes too thick to stir.

Knead the dough. It is ready when it is glossy and tacky but not sticky; and a small amount pinched off can be stretched (by pinching and pulling) thin enough to let light pass through.

1. Let rise up to 1 hour at room temperature or 5 hrs in the refrigerator.
2. Place on a floured counter and flour the top of the dough.
3. Cut the dough into two round balls and repeat the following steps for each piece.
4. Flatten one ball with your hand until about 1 or 1 1/2 inches thick.
5. Pick up the disk of dough, and pinch the dough about 1/2 inch from the edge. Try and stretch as you pinch, repeat this all around the edge.
6. When the disk of dough has been stretched enough to start to be floppy, proceed to tossing.

Traditionally, it was thought that one could affect the luck they would have throughout the coming year by what they did or ate on the first day of the year. For that reason, it has become common for folks to celebrate the first few minutes of a brand new year in the company of family and friends. Parties often last into the middle of the night after the ringing in of a new year. It was once believed that the first visitor on New Year’s Day would bring either good luck or bad luck the rest of the year. It was particularly lucky if that visitor happened to be a tall dark-haired man.

Some traditional New Year foods are also thought to bring luck. Many cultures believe that anything in the shape of a ring is good luck, because it symbolizes “coming full circle,” completing a year’s cycle. For that reason, the Dutch believe that eating donuts on New Year’s Day will bring good fortune. Stromboli’s recommends a round pizza pie.

Many parts of the U.S. celebrate the new year by consuming black-eyed peas. These legumes are typically accompanied by either hog jowls or ham. Black-eyed peas and other legumes have been considered good luck in many cultures. The hog, and thus its meat, is considered lucky because it symbolizes prosperity. Cabbage is another “good luck” vegetable that is consumed on New Year’s Day by many. Cabbage leaves are also considered a sign of prosperity, being representative of paper currency.
